What's up, retards? Do you fags think that Magic the Gathering could be a good investment? I played this game for a few years, maybe 2012-2015 or so. I look at all the sealed boxes for that time period and some have increased by 300%. It looks better than crypto.

That's worse than Bitcoin. Just buy Bitcoin, it's that easy.

Your hands are too weak to handle collectables. It's a terrible market to try and time or swing.

Don't buy the new stuff, only vintage.

Also dead CCGs are good if you can figure out what are the rarest things, flakey info out there.

Of course it is a good investment. It's intrinsically worthless stuff so it'll pump hard the coming years. but the cards have some value for the game so therefore crypto will outperform it. No i'm unironically not ironic.

u sure brah

>Your hands are too weak
for ur average 4channing retard, actually, i'm thinking about 5-10 years desu

>Don't buy the new stuff, only vintage.
yeah? buy the asset that already pumped? nah im good i'm thinking buying the new shh and holding for 5-10

i'm not in the teeeeensiest bit surprised Any Forums avoids good investements

You can pick up vintage MTG artist proofs for a few dollars that are limited to 50-250 each card.

Also even Alpha commons are like 15k print. What is the print run of a modern card? Few hundred thousand?

The only stuff that matters is vintage imo. But if you are going to buy modern, at least buy the modern artist proofs. That is the only way you will get a rare card with modern. You might do alright with booster boxes, just doesn't appeal to me.

>Wrong board trading cards are financial assets.........

Lmao I just tried to sell my old MCG cards and the store offered me $5 for all of them. Horrible investment choice

Dead game dead fan base dead decks. Put your life savings into it

Did they steal my computer this week and replace it with this useless piece of shit?

>2012-2015
Yeah check Bitcoin price back then. Nice 300% magic card gains

Do you think Magic will exist 10 years from now?

top signal

Haha yeah the new stuff is ridiculous. Perhaps its worth something as a time capsule for a society that is completely mindfucked.

Some guy posted his videos a few days ago on the topic lol

cool, thank you for the info

I am an outsider to the game tbf, someone that plays might be able to suss out modern better than me. I am just looking in terms of age, rarity etc.

>buy sealed product
>wait 5-10 years
>sell to big box stores, online retailers, on facebook groups, to lolterally anyone
Anything else requires game and meta knowledge, which is fine if you're a player and fan, big time sink if you're only an investor. Even after learning, most people are heavily biased and will buy shit they think is good but is actually bad or likely to get /justed/ by reprints, bans, or meta shifts. Buying singles is much harder, much more casino-y, and much greater wins or losses. Buying and reselling sealed product is easy and has positive expected value. From a selling standpoint you have a product that is desirable because it will come Near Mint for old cards and you get the benefit of selling cards your booster box might not even contain.
>muh buying Reserved List cards
A never-increasing supply has appeal and you can't get /justed/ by reprints but there are a lot of dud cards on the RL. Plenty of high $$$ cost cards on the RL that do not see play in any format and will be hard to move, especially high end cards. Once again game knowledge helps a lot here. Overall I would avoid due to difficulty in finding a buyer. Just buy sealed product, sell them once they've doubled in cost, and keep buying all the new sealed shit they pump out. Strategy wise it is similar to buying bonds and rolling old bonds into new bonds to snowball, and because you are buying a new sealed product each year you will have a sealed product to sell each year.

video games are the clear choice
