God, how fucking gay is it that instead of learning Mega Evolution in XY he had to learn it in JN on top of learning G-max. It would be so much more cathartic if he learned the gimmicks by the generations they were introduced and it all culminating in this, but no, I guess XY just wanted to be gay for some reason.

I don't understand how GF works. Introduce megas in gen 6 yet only give megas to the Kanto and Hoenn starters? What about sinnoh? Kalos? fucking Johto?
Reminder the only reason ash didn’t get a mega was because GameFreak decided to not give a single Gen 6 Pokémon a mega so the anime team had to literally ask them to make something new that they could give to Ash for his Gen 6 Pokémon.

Kanto was because of KANTOOOOOOOOO and Hoenn was because of ORAS. What's really unforgivable is not giving the Sinnoh starters Gmax forms.
That's still fucking retarded cus they could have given him a Lucario and had its Mega form be his Gen 6 member, he got a Gligar in Sinnoh and that worked because of his evolution it should have been the same in Kalos.
Its really obvious why Ash didnt get a mega. There was clearly gonna be a 3rd version of the XY games - and you can bet the 3 starters were gonna get their own megas. There's a lot of proof about a third version being planned, from the Zygarde shit that got kicked to SM, the locked door in the power plant, and the fucking unreleased floette. Then it got cancelled. And the anime was left with a mega-less Asg and a frog that was never gonna get the mega. Thats why instead they decided to give it an unique form. The reason ashfrog made it to the games in SM was probably a way to tie up the mess Greninja created by not getting its mega.
Kanto got most of the megas to appeal to older fans who played RBY as a child. They were now in their 20s and had disposable income so TPC pandered to them. Hoenn just got them because they were next in line for a remake.
