Ash is a significantly more powerful trainer than Iris. He can handle Mega Garchomp, even if restricted to one gimmick. His team would be banned on Smogon.

Ash losing would just be another maintaining of the status quo, which anime staff and fans alike have been wanting to get AWAY from for the longest time. Given Ash's plot armour in the current season (he literally only loses when plot demands it) they clearly don't want him to be some little bitch boi and after 25 years of him, clearly the fans want him to succeed to. All this is gonna do is take us back to the era of Ash the eternal loser. Personally I'll take Gary Stu Ketchum over Jobber from Pallet Town any day. Also 10 year olds surpass people with decades of experience in Pokemon all the time, why would it be surprising for this to be the case in the anime?
