BDSP has strong postgame bosses but they're a bit hindered by affection bonuses being tied to friendship in the game.
But those bonuses don't apply to the Battle Tower. BDSP does some interesting stuff with the Battle Tower like having gym leaders as bosses there and they aren't restricted to the type they usually main. I'd say BDSP is worth a pirate or getting on sale.
