Underrated gen 2 mons

What are some good underrated Pokémon you like to use in gen two? Im going to start a playthrough and want some ideas. I always end up being lazy and get my usual basic 6

does steel typing seem useful in game?

try Phanpy and evolve it

try Furret, Ursaring or Bellossom
Steelix is based too but a massive pain to get legit in Gen 2 (of course you can always just PKHeX in the evo once you have an Onix or play something like Patched Crystal)

of course Steel type is useful, Magnemite line in particular only needs to watch out for Fire, Fighting and Ground moves which are pretty rare. Most enemy mons use primarily Normal moves. Not that resistances really matter in-game since you basically just want to move first and OHKO everything
also OP the final evos aren't Gen 2 mons but you can always try and use something from the Odd Egg like Tyrogue or Elekid if you're playing Crystal

Jumpluff, Furret, Sunflora, Jynx, Persian, Ledian with elemental punches

If I told you to get a party of underrated, worthy Gen2 choices:

- Meganium/Jumpluff
- Quagsire
- Magneton (Yes, it's gen 1, but steel type)
- Furret (Elemental punches baby)
- Xatu
- Umbreon
