Lost Art Style
The watercolors did a lot to make the pokemon not look like plastic.
I think just in general digital art looks worse. It removes a lot of the rough edges connected to art and creates something too clean and uniform. With colors they become too reliant on vibrant bright colors while ignoring muted colors. There are exceptions but it's rare to find digital art that doesn't look like plastic.
This isn't a limitation of digital art as much as it's a user problem. Digital art just makes it so very easy to be lazy and take the easy way out.
I agree. There are also a lot of artists now who never made the switch that do some interesting things with digital art but still I prefer the look of traditional artwork.
eleven?
pretty much this. i dont mind some digital artwork when its stylized well but its an innately sterile medium
It's cool, but I'm pretty sure they completely switched to digital art by Gen III
the concept art for Ruby and Sapphire were still done by hand it wasnt until the tail end of gen 3 with lgfr/emerald and gen 4 it went completely digital
The art in question is from Emerald
i just love water colors
Love it when laymen don't know the first thing about they talk about
