Why aren't 3D Pokemon games more ambitious?

Because it'll sell regardless

Why would they? D/P proved that effortless shovelware sells anyway, so Gen 5 and beyond are exactly that.

They were always this way, they could just hide it better on the handheld consoles.

Because it's a remake of a game. Not a new game.

You wana have a pokemon game like the anime then make a game that isn't rby

Ontop of all this, gamefreak are not actually good at making games, And for some reason they don't want to fish out the IP to more studios for grander projects. Probably because they're scared of the results.
Plus time limitations.

>they were always this way
That's the problem. Zelda 3D maps are 80 times bigger than Zelda 2D maps.

it takes time and effort but also

AIEEEEEEEE DELET THIS
3D BAD 3D BAD 3D BAD

>comparing a massive mountain full of life and a big port city with a temple, a hole in the sky and a tiny chamber in a cave.
A big open world is an alien concept for some people

Real sad it took them THIS long to make the overworld look nice. Even sadder they had to sacrifice the rest of the Pokemon, abilities, held items, certain moves and online functions for it.
Real sad only the cutscene looks nice. Shame the overworld is chibi and too poorly optimized.

Is let's go groom and let's go cunny
worth playing?

Why doesn't the rest of the game look like that?

BECAUSE YOU WILL BUY IT ANYWAYS OP
(and if you don't do it somehow, a mentally ill corporate whore will buy 2 copies of both versions just to spite you)

Because the awful 2D games sold so well so they thought why bother when people will buy it anyway

DON'T YOU DARE FORGOT WHAT THEY DID TO MY FAVORITE ROUTE THE BIKE BRIDGE

tight deadlines, short dev cycles.
It was a lot more manageable before the 3ds but now they gotta cut more and more corners as tech advances.
New games have plenty of ambition (except bdsp) but they have to cut so much away to get their ideas in the game, and even then they end up being half baked.

Because they can cut content and get more sales from the controversy than they would by making an actual good traditional game for the first time since 2014.

Because Pokemon fans are by and large retarded manchildren who hate change, and actual children. They judge games by how many time wasting shit minigames and side activities there are, since they want to play a children's game indefinitely instead of getting a job or doing something productive like committing a racially motivated hate crime.

>implying they were even trying to recreate Terminus Cave
