Which of these 2 in more tanky in general?

which of these 2 in more tanky in general?
I'm familiar with Clefable but never really used the Jigglypuff line seriously before.
also, both lines' move pools are fucking based

wigglytuff is weaker than clefable in every conceivable way

jigglypuff is for doubles
>friend guard
but loses it when it evolves?

so wigglytuff is the weakest out of the ones pictured?

fuck it. it'll be a fun challenge. welcome home, new pink best friend

Yes, by a wide margin.

Wigglytuff has base 140 HP and 45/50 defenses. It has 85 special attack but all four of those mons are defensive utility/stall mons anyway, and its base 45 speed and useless abilities are terrible.

Clefable has base 95 HP and 73/90 defenses. This is better in all (I repeat, ALL) situations except for the ability to make 101 HP substitutes. (which can't be broken by one seismic toss/night shade, letting it win against certain other stallmon) It has base 95 special attack, base 60 speed, and two of the best abilities in the game in Magic Guard and Unaware.

Blissey has 252 HP and 10/135 defenses. Max HP, max defense Wigglytuff is only very slightly more bulky physically than max HP, max defense Blissey. On the special side, they don't even compare. Blissey is the tankiest special wall in the game bar none.
(Wigglytuff Return does 21 - 25% against Wigglytuff and 22.6 - 26.8% against Blissey)
Blissey has base 75 special attack and base 55 speed, and arguably better abilities in Natural Cure/Serene Grace and probably a better movepool too. The only thing Wigglytuff has over Blissey that matters is the better Fairy/Normal typing

Audino has base 103 HP and 86/86 defenses, which, again, is better in all situations, and on top of that, Audino can make 101 HP substitutes too. It has bad base 60 special attack, base 50 speed, and a worse typing, but it makes up for it with another one of the best abilities in the game, Regenerator. Its only shortcoming is that it doesn't have the bullshit gen 1 learnset accumulated over the years, notably lacking teleport like the other three.

Clefable is pretty much objectively superior to Wigglytuff.

Far as I know Wigglytuff has had the same role since gen 1 - be a backup celfable if you want to double down on what clefable does by having a second (albeit slightly weaker) version of it on your team.

Opposing teams in a tier with clefable are likely built to deal with clefable but people wont expect you to have basically two of them which you can use to overwhelm them.

Keep in mind this all depends on stronger things like Blissey not being available in the tier that clef and wiggly are in.

Based thread.

Anyway, Clefable is generally better at everything compared to Wigglytuff, but there are a few niche strats:

First off, Wish, which currently takes advantage of the user's max HP and a 140 is huge enough to be an effective healer.
Then Competitive, this one can be amazing in doubles if somebody runs two Intimidate mons. It will give Wigglytuff a +4 SpA in a single turn, and if you want to take it even further you can use a Throat Spray and find yourself at +5 after using Hyper Voice.
Finally we have Counter, this one works better with unevolved Jigglypuff because it takes advantage of even lower defenses but a good HP stat. Of course you need a sash.

Also still for doubles there is Round, the second one becomes a 120 BP move and Wigglytuff is slow enough to not go first most of the times.

Don't use this as a team, it's just a collection of puffs. Feel free to add/modify this.

not sure about Audino, but Wigglytuff IS painfully mediocre

Clefable has better recovery options.

So how would you guys improve Wigglytuff modestly to bring it more in line with the other pink fluffs?
>double down on its strengths? patch its weaknesses?
>give it a unique roll to fill? make it compete directly with one of the others?
>better stats? better ability? better moves?

Since it's the original singer mon, give it increased speed/priority for whenever it uses sound moves. Now you can actually rely on Sing or attempt a sweep with Hyper Voice.

Regenerator as an ability and Moonblast.

I'm still surprised they didn't get Huge Power (chikaraMOCHI).

you know this has brought up a question I've never really been able to understand.
what's generally more beneficial for a tanky pokemon?
because for example blissey with 252 hp and 10 def is somehow less bulky than wiggly's 140hp and 45 def. but clefable's 95 hp and 73 def are better than that?
sorry, been playing forever but never know what to focus on for tankymon

Clefable knowing Cosmic Power and softboiled basically makes this not even a contest. And that's before magic guard or unaware come in.

>two of the best abilities in the game in Magic Guard and Unaware.
Imagine if Cute Charm was turned into pseudo intimidate that only activated as soon as the foe made a physical attack?
