>Not Gen 1 Rock Throw

>Rock Throw deals damage and has no secondary effect. It has an accuracy of 65%
What the fuck

Wrong.

>Hold Hands
>DAMAGING move

Yeah, it is damaging to see pokemon commit such a lewd act.

At least you CAN get something out of Rock throw, fighting wasn't a good offensive type in gen 1.

Dream eater exists

>100 BP
>100 accuracy
>Heals you
Already better than submission.

You know what move really pissed me off? Vine whip. I know it's been changed in the nu-generations, but it used to be 35 power and a whopping TEN (10) PP. That's the equivalent power of tackle, and no additional. Why the FUCK was the PP so low? Oh, god forbid you just want to use a goddamn bulbasaur or chikorita or bellsprout without needing to run back to the pokecenter after every FUCKING battle because the PP is equivalent to a late-game meta move like thunderbolt or icebeam.

submission was the anti-tyranitar in gen 2

Present literally has a chance to heal the opponent and Sonicboom has a fixed damage output of 20.

Sonicboom is good in early routes.

No it isn't! None of the pokemon that can learn it are on early routes. The only way you're getting Sonicboom on anything before Gym 3 is in HGSS through the pokewalker on Magnemite or Voltorb which have far better moves for that part of the game, and Yanma which is a 1% encounter and also quad weak to rollout making it more or less useless for Whitney's gym. There's also magnemites at the trainers school in SM and USUM but by that point it can have Magnet Bomb, Supersonic, Thunder Wave, Thunder Shock and Tackle, all moves with more potential damage output/general usefulness than Sonic Boom. Plus, Hala's fighting types have SE stab on Magnemite, so it wouldn't even stand a chance against the main boss of that area. Sonic Boom is truly a useless move.

Fighting wasn't good until it got moves. Normal was king of the first 3 generations.

It's a wheel from hell

You can get it on a level 14/16/17 Voltorb on Route 10 in RB and FRLG. It learns sonicboon at 17 in RB and 15 in FRLG. It's just barely not a 2hko on most pokemon at that point in the game, which is not completely useless. Either way, it's Voltorb's best option against the upcoming Geodude and Graveler spam, and probably better than its tackle on everything its electric moves aren't good against for a long time. (It only gets electric moves by level up in FRLG btw, learning Spark at level 21)

Damage calculator says a level 17 voltorb with average ivs and no evs does 5 damage to itself with tackle, with a 1/16 chance of doing 6 damage. Base 30 attack is hard to work with.

Normal/Electric for the Voltorb line is the only retype I can get behind.

Same power, lower accuracy

Submission has recoil, sure, but at least it can be super effective

Slam has the benefit of hitting Minimized Pokemon for double damage, it's also generally given pretty early in each game.

Going back to FRLG, Pikachu gets Slam at level 20. If you're willing to give it Mega Punch it's kinda worthless but that's a single-use tutor move you could potentially give other pokemon.
