The sprite artists who make these never seem to understand that not every Pokémon took up the entire grid. Smaller Pokémon/early evolutions tended to be smaller and take up less space.

this. This spritework isn't the best I've seen. I think the artist did a really great job with Weezing and Hatterene though.
So yea I'd like to see some of the sprites improved but ultimately it will not save the whole dex, no. The sprites i like are the few good designs in the bunch, meowth, Grimsnarl, cwntiskorch.
over half of these designs are just bad. and I've never said that about a generation before (except 3 when I was like, 8 years old. But I have since come around to it). I hate the teacup and the diaper baby lizard rocker, and the not-graveler coal monster, and the bug line, and the starters, and the fat fucking squirrel, and the furry KISS Linoone yuck.
