I just had an ephipahy and realized I couldn't be happy seeing myself living in some uncanny metaverse decentraland NFT house. I wouldn't be happy interacting with crypto even if I was given 1M bitcoins and NFTs. Just thinking about this future of disgusts me more than it amazes me. So I've been thinking, should I quit it all, throw my wallet away, join a temple, and abandon any worldly desires and pleasures at once?

This is what I want to do, but I have to pay down my student loans and improve my health first. It's harder to do in the US, but I believe in some countries like Thailand you can basically walk up to the monastery and ordain for whatever period of time you like. But yes, becoming detached from your desires is a great idea and the only true way of achieving lasting happiness.

Also becoming a monk is a quite a big step to take all at once. You don't have to wait to become a monk to start meditating and working on your attachments.

It's about letting go.
In the past, this is a noble goal to elevate yourself spiritually and teach others to achieve happiness from within.
Modern teaching Buddhism is just slave doctrine, coping mechanism and money raking cult.
Even a movie can teach you more about the core principle than today's teaching.

Monastacism is a demanding path, but can be a fulfilling way to serve the Lord and achieve theosis. You need to become Orthodox before you can join a monestary though, so I would start by talking to your local Orthodox parish priest
