Always has been. Not because it's Ashnime. But it always happen to almost anime. Most good manga went into shit once it get adapted into anime (rushed season timeline, edited stories, graphic fanservice; pandering more to watchers feelings than the actual intended stories). Even shonenshit that mirroring manga storyline are still much better and more enjoyable on manga.
This master of eight script is already obvious. Boring plot armor that exploits viewers' emotions. I assume Ash will win the final against Leon only because of plot armor protagonist struggle, stretched by tens of episodes just like Captain Tsubasa emotional roller-coaster.
