It is completely false to say many Dark Types are Dark "just because they look edgy". You have it backwards. The thing that gives something the Dark Type are either an affinity with a dark malignant force, or the pokemon themselves being cruel or sneaky or whatever. Since Luxray lacks any such traits, it actually has no justification whatsoever for being Dark Type. Being dark and edgy is not, by itself, a valid reason to be Dark. It's just an aesthetic.
