>in return I tell him to just use google or ask on a car forum like normal person
>after some struggling he gives in and decides to find the solution online himself
>he tells me he asked on carbrand forum and that he doesnt need me and can ask questions on forums himself now
>sends me link to thread on said forum to show me how he is some sort of genius that can troubleshoot this shit himself
>I then create an account on same forum setting up legit profile making some posts, avatar, the works
>then I start direct messaging him that I know the solution and he has to show me a pic if the "hidden reset switch" is also located near his pedals
>he then shows me a screenshot on whatsapp of someone "using the private message function to help him out"
>its literally a picture of his computer screen where he is talking to my forum account
>he is going home now to check on the car and send me a pic of the 'hidden reset switch'

im having the time of my life, how do I play this epic prank? I dont know what to do or send him on some wild goose hunt but I also dont wanna ruin it, make him lose interest or go too far but this shit is just so funny since he is trying to actually sound smarter than me

Tell your friend that if the hidden reset button doesn't work that his encabulator is broken and he will need to go to the auto parts store to pick up one for his make/model, but that's totally fine because it's actually a very common part

give him the actual solution, that you find elsewhere. then don't tell him anything until the right time. he will feel so superior, then it will all wash away one day when you reveal it.

You should tell him he needs to unplug his battery for 15minutes and plug it back in then drive 75miles to make the light go out.

yeah this could work, there is also some people in his original topic saying he should just get his battery checked and unhooked etc but big chance i wont be able to find the solution more than those car nerds

unplugging the battery got suggested but driving for a long time is also a good idea but i dont know if he is gonna appreciate it and it might be going too far

I used to help people bypass faulty check engine lights for emissions tests. It'll make the light go off for about 75miles (or depending on model, turn the light off after 75m depending on how the computer cycles codes) but it'll go out, he'll act smart, and it'll come back on again in a week or so.

I think i got an idea, he is probably gonna send me a pic and then I say something like you dont seem to have it, maybe you can do a sequence reset

where he has to do like press brake peddle 3 times, then give way left, give way right, press hazerd lights

and then he will probably tell me it doesnt work and then I will say are you doing it right send me a video

and if he says he cant send me a video on a forum i will say ok send me the video through whatsapp and then just give my own phone number

and then he tries to send the video and he finds out he is trying to send it to me

but i dont know if that is funny enough

it seems innocent enough to not start trouble lol i kinda dont have many friends left
