It isn't forgotten, when it is available in a regional dex it is always one of the best Pokemon in the whole game, you also get it very early. Golem is the underrated one, he got a shitty regional form instead of a mega or gmax.

He has to compete with Mew/Mewtwo, Slowpoke, and Gardevoir for the psychic shillmon- and they get first billing. Machamp for example only shares space with Lucario for fighting type promotion but contrasts its design well, and Gengar has no competition whatsoever for its typings.
