Now that Gen 8 is coming to its end, what are your genuine final opinions about:

>The characters

>Pokemon
I loved most of them, I only hated the fossils and the final evo of Grookey but everyone else was either good, great or perfect
>The waifus
All top tier, it was kinda cringe having people whitewashing Nessa and arguing about Bea's race but mental illness is inevitable on the Pokemon fandom
>The games
I'm still upset that we didn't get Natdex in SS, I swear they were planning to it, but due to covid please understand they just dropped the second wave of DLC and made PLAxe-wound which is just a waste of time, I really hated this gen's game design because of that.

>Pokemon
Most of them were decent, some very big flops like Cinderace, Inteleon, Eiscue, Chewtle, and Blipbug though
>Charachters
I liked most of them
>Game
It was fine. Probably something I would replay though eventually

They aren’t bad. I wouldn’t have stopped playing if my joycons didn’t break in the middle of 2020. It took four months to get them back and they’re wonky again.

-Dexit casts a massive shroud over it
-some good mons, still feels like lots of wasted potential despite james turner being a bong (no granbull regional form or british bulldog counterpart?)
The characters are cool and all, but the biggest takeaway is just how disconnected they are from the rest of the pokemon world, ironic considering Journeys. But I don't think SwSh had a SINGLE returning character or cameo. Really wish that tournament tease Honey says about inviting other champions actually went somewhere, they know people loved the idea of the PWT
-price hike for being on a main console but still feel like they live up less to the grandiose potential compared to even Colosseum on gamecube. Hopefully ScarViol has them settling down and building on what felt like a rushed foundation; gen 8 feels like a bit of a chaotic mess overall i feel like

>The Pokemon
Some good ones some bad ones but over all really good imo
>The characters
Some of the best in the franchise it like they put more care into them than the pokemon and not to be that user but they gave us some hotties like Sonia Nessa Raihan and Leon
>The game(s)
If you can look past dexit SWSH is oretty fun BDSP was a good walk down memory lane and the best looking mainline pokemon game on the switch PLA was really good but fell flat after you completed the game

Shit.
Shit.
Shit.
I'm glad it's over. Fuck off and good riddance.

>Pokemon
Hate all three starter final forms, but love the rest of the dex
>Characters
Most of them are fine. I really like Nessa, Kabu, Opal, Marnie, Piers and Sonia
>The games:
Base Sword and Shield are pretty mediocre, but the DLC really improved these games. I loved PLA, but I don't wanna play it again

Of all the gens I’ve disliked right out of the gate (4, 6, 8) I think this is the one I’ve come to like the most over time. Lots of QoL stuff at least.

>The Pokemon
honestly? not a big fan of the galar dex. i did like some pokemon like dottler, raboot and drednaw, but there's a lot of pokemon i generally just dislike or don't care for
>The characters
bede was fun, hop's little character progression was ok but he really should've been harder or had more experimental things like a rain/sunny day team to show he's actually trying. probably my least favorite evil team but piers was great. i found opal pretty funny, bea and kabu grew on me
>The game(s)
dexcut and then putting the other pokemon in dlc really rubbed me the wrong way. story-wise, sword and shield is kinda frustrating. when wild pokemon start dynamaxing, i expected something interesting to finally happen but then we cut to a picture of leon handling it. then when we're about to fight leon, rose just interrupts saying he's going to start the darkest day for literally no reason
i didn't bother with bdsp because i really didn't like the chibi style, but it seems like an ok remake

>The Pokemon
Some standouts like Toxtricity, Drednaw, Corviknight, and Hatterne but otherwise but I could take or leave most of it. Alot of flash-in-the pan mons (pokemon that seem interesting but have no staying power in my mind)
>The characters
Though Cara Liss, and Kabu deserve more attention. Nessa's also deserves some discussion that isn't abut her skin color from seething racists. Otherwise mostly forgettable outside for Sonia (porn), Rose (idiot), Oleana (crazy), Hop (worse Hau), Leon (CHARIZARD).
>The game(s)
meh. Nothing abut Galar interests me, Wild Area seems like a Beta testing for Legends, Region tries to look nice but its mostly window dressing on a bland hallway, and animations are laughable. Also story is insultingly bad. However, QOL props it up abit. Worst pokemon game mainly because it presents itself as more than what it actually.

The dex cut is a major stain that will continue to be a stain.

worst pokemon of any game
awful but that's a given with pokemon
bottom-tier games

>The Pokemon
As a british person i'm torn, on the one hand having my entire country and nationality boiled down to "lol football", "lol stonehenge", "lol tea" and then a bunch of other random/vaguely related concepts was a little annoying, but on the other hand I love the fucked up fossils, Polteageist, Galar Weezing, Runerigus, Corviknight, Dubwool, Falinks, etc. and some of designs I disliked have even grown on me like the dogs and Calyrex.
>The Characters
Genuinely dogshit. Fuck Leon for being the most annoyingly smug and yet easiest champion ever, fuck Hop for being little moe than a slightly more useful clone of Hau (which isn't a high bar to cross), Fuck Rose for having the potential to be a goated villain but being fucked by awful plot. Only good NPC I can think of is Mustard, he was at least fun to interact with.
>The Games
As much as the dex cut still stings, I can at least say it's not the worst game i've played. Plot was bad but at the very least the battling feels smooth and the DLC redeems the lack of postgame content, even if it's stuff that should have been in the base game.

>The Pokemon
Overall has my least favourite designs of any generation. The starters were especially awful. There were still a handful of great designs in there, though. Hatterene and G-Slowking being some of my favourites.
>The characters
Mostly fine. The gym leaders were all pretty fun, and I loved the unique dynamax animations. I seriously dislike Leon and Hop, though.
>The game(s)
Dexcut killed this generation for me. Besides that the games are very mediocre and I think the weakest in the series.

Specifically only talking about SwSh because I haven't played PLA or BDSP.

>pokemon
a nice 4/10, there are some good ones but most are unremarkable
>characters
second best of the series besides unova
>games
bad

idk never played it lol

the franchise would've been better off without it
all of them
better off without the games
better off without every single character
better off without almost every single mon (seriously only like 3 I can say I genuinely liked out of this atrocious batch)
every. single. one.

>Pokemon
I like the dex alot more than gen 7. Glad they added less legendaries/mythicals this time around. Don't like the starters though.
>Characters
Kinda wished they went with Leon being bored out of his mind because he never loses so he acts like a passive aggressive asshole until you beat him.
>Games
Never played BDSP or PLA. SwSh were alright but I seen better. DLC does improve the games and I enjoyed competitive until Crown Tundra caused major powercreep.

>The Pokemon
This gen's batch is decent. I like most of the dex, even designs that aren't all that popular like Duraludon, Calyrex, and Coalossal, but I can't deny it also has quite a few I'd never consider using like Boltund, Stonjourner, and G-Stunfisk. It's also produced a ton of mons that slot neatly into my Top 30 in Falinks, Grimmsnarl, Perrserker, and G-Slowking, H-Typhlosion, and Basculegion. Better than Gen 5 and 6's dexes honestly.
>The characters
Honestly the characters themselves were fine, they were just trapped in a shit story. In most cases they weren't any worse than most other Pokemon games (barring Gens 5 and 7), but they also didn't really get to shine because of how rushed the narrative was Hop's a fine rival and people who claim he's a Hau clone are legitimately too stupid to understand the botched narrative of a children's game. There's a reason he tops character polls over "muh waifu Marnie and "dick rival" Bede
>the game(s)
base SwSh was bad but the DLC is peak 3D Pokemon map design, so it has that going for it at least. PLA is some of the best Pokemon in years and even more fun than a good chunk of the 2D games. Didn't play BDSP because I already didn't like DP and the game doesn't seemed to have changed a whole lot

>Pokemon
Based, only a few designs are bad and even some shit designs grow on you
>Characters
Based, it has everything going on from chocolate bunnies, to cunny, e-girl, femboy and mommy
>The games
Mixed feelings, SS, LGPE and BDSP all have some flaws but also are great Pokemon games in their own way, Snap was a great spin-off, PLA on the other hand was a terrible spin-off and I rather have more SS DLC than PLA, Unite was just hot garbage, played it day 1 then unninstalled

>Pokemon
A few I like, a few I don't like, it's pretty middle of the road. My favorite new mons are definitely the new evolutions in Legends Arceus. Also like a few of the Hisuian forms.

>Characters
I liked a lot of designs, I just wish a lot of them were fleshed out more.

>Games
Can't lie, it's been pretty rough, I though SwSh were okay, but are definitely very flawed, BDSP might be my most disliked Pokemon game right now, it got so fucked up, and Legends Arceus was the best part of gen 8 for me, it was a breath of fresh air for this series, but wish there was more to it, looking forward to see what SV carry over from it.
