It wasn't, but there's a common pattern we can follow ever since Pokemon began timing its releases internationally.
They announce the game's existence on Pokemon Day, go radio silent until May at the earliest because of Nintendo Policies forbidding them from heavily promoting or marketing the game until it's six months from release (thereby implying a November release date, very likely to be the week before that year's Black Friday in order to maximize Holiday Profits), but we're also guaranteed news by June, typically during the window where Nintendo has its big Direct presentation.
