“Postgame” is a meme.

I actually agree, it's truly arbitrary how much content is postgame and how much is in the main game, what matters is the total content

>see those islands?
>you can't go there

>iphone filename
>strawman
Gen 8 sucks!

>he thinks it’s a strawman
>when people unironically praise BW for having 4 extra post-credits routes that could have easily just been put into its short as fuck campaign

You really have nothing better to do on a Saturday?

Any Forums is just contrarian. The hate towards SS is justified but before that this boards was cocksucking gen 5 24/7 even though it was the gen that started cutting post game content with he same "childrens only play mobile games now" philosophy
I do wish they bring back the battle frontier though. I don't care about trainer customization at all

Then maybe try to make an argument the total amount of content is not satisfactory? All you've proven is just a premise.

>even though it was the gen that started cutting post game content with he same "childrens only play mobile games now" philosophy
What are you talking about Gen 5 had post-game. It's gen 6 that started gutting post-game retard.

Unironically agree with the soijack. Why would you want everything to be revealed to you in the main story? Part of the fun in postgame is the surprise factor, and that there's even more places to explore, meaning your journey as a trainer doesn't just end with the league. Rather have that than just putting down the game as soon as the credits roll.

Black/White had a shitty post-game, but Black 2/White 2's was a lot better.

Seething XYtranny

the point is that the credits shouldn't have any bearing on how you view the content. If you view things that come after the credits as an "extra" but wouldn't do the same for something that came before the credits, even though they were both intended as a part of the same package, you're falling for the oldest trick in the book meant to make the game appear to have more content than it really does

You can go to all of those islands except the one directly south of Slateport

By your logic, the star world in the mario 3d world game is just a illusion of extra content and should've been in the main campaign. It's a slippery slope.

That’s not what he’s saying at all though. He’s not advocating for what you’re suggesting, it’s just a matter of viewing the game holistically instead of arbitrarily seeing a game of equal length to another as superior because the former has credits rolling before more of the content.

That would unironically be an improvement if those areas were designed like modern post-games routes with NatDex Pokemon and trainers in the level 50s and 60s.
Spheal, Snorunt and Horsea being post-game would suck though, that'd need fixing.

I think post-game should purely focus on the battling mechanics.
The extra fluff is nice for immersion and all, but that immersion is kind of dispelled once the credits roll anyway, which is why I believe any post-game should just be entirely focused on the game's core features.
Most other RPGs don't have post-games beyond superbosses and arena challenges either.

Nothing of what you labeled is "postgame" content.

Those routes you labeled only require surf to navigate. The areas around Dewford are available to explore once you beat Norman, and the rest is open to you once the exit east of Lilycove is open.

pokemon fans are autistic and are the only ones who made retarded rules about ""postgame"" being good. You never see metroid, zelda, or souls fans bitch about how there's no ""postgame"".

It's exactly what he is implying though, his argument basically boils down to "post-game bad".

Unlike these games Pokemon set a precedent for post-game content, nobody that likes Metroid complains about post-game because not a single game had post-game.

mario tends to have pretty extensive postgames desu. Sometimes they go a bit overboard with the unlock requirements though (3d Land)

Adding new locations after the league like Sinnoh did with the Battle Zone would've definitely helped Hoenn
Shame ORAS wasted this potential on the shitty mirage islands

That's not entirely true, depending on the game you will definitely see people complaining about post-game.
Just look at Kingdom Hearts, people were mad as hell that there was only one superboss in that game.
Thinking about it further, it seems like the post-game complaints are mostly aimed at easy kids games that tend to have brutally challenging endgame content aimed at an older audience, so when it's missing it can feel like you're playing for nothing as an adult.
Well Pokemon didn't really have that much of an extensive post-game until Emerald, and to this day it's probably still the most involved it's ever gotten alongside Platinum.
There's far more games with little to no postgame in the series than there are games with a good one.
