Brock and Misty looked absolutely awful in that art style, what the fuck were they thinking? Was that really the best they could do? In an alternate universe, the execs didn't cheap out and the anime didn't start looking like shit.

As far as animation goes, obviously Brock and Misty would have looked amazing in XY, at least in battles. Outside of battles, XY actually didn't have that much expressive character acting, and the way characters were designed wasn't especially different from BW. All I can think of as a difference from BW is that most characters were drawn a little skinnier, with less tree-trunk legs and rectangular torsos.
Otherwise, Misty wouldn't have looked that different from her BW flashback, which in turn didn't REALLY look that different from her AG appearance. Brock would especially look exactly the same, since the biggest difference between DP and BW is the way irises are drawn, which.. lmao Brock. We didn't really miss out on much, truth be told.
Not really, XY was more detailed than BW in terms of facial details, body structure and even fingernails so even though the components are subtle, as a whole it creates a vastly different atmosphere.
