Grass is a shitty type carried by some of the best moves and abilities in the game. The game would shit itself inwards if there was a water type giga drain, spore and leech seed

But those things do exist for grass, so it's not as shitty as you want to claim.

Those are moves that do not affect every grass types, what do affect grass mons as a whole is the fact that the type is tied with rock for the most weaknesses and tied with bug for the most types to resist it. Not saying it's the worst type but it's not decent either. It's mediocre much like psychic and rock.

Weaknesses aren't everything.

Grass has a ton of weaknesses.
It also has resists against Electric(fantastic offensive typing), Water(one of the best typings in the game) and Ground(another excellent offensive typing)

Not just weaknesses but also types that resist it and those are things that directly affects every pokemon of that type therefore are much more relevant than moves.

Grass types are very good in competitive because almost every team has a Water (all around great), an Electric (speed control and a check to said Waters) and a Ground (blocks Volt Switch and usually the Stealth Rocker of the team) and Grass walls these. Think back to Gen 7 when Koko, Bulu, Fini, Zygarde, Landorus, Kartana and Greninja were running rampant and a single Tangrowth checked everything (even Magearna, Zam and Lele due to AV).

Those 3 resist don't make up for a weakness to 2 of the most commonly seen coverage moves (ice and fire) and a weakness to u-turn. Also take into consideration that all the strong water types have all access to ice beam which actually make grass as good as water itself if you need a water resist when ash greninja was a threat, the best switch ins were gastrodon and toxapex. And electric and ground are better taken care of by ground types (which you should have to prevent volt-switch) and flying types because an immunity is infinitely more valuable than a resist.

Not really. Many types are either lacking, redundant or heavily lost their niche. Grass is okay but the typing is so flooded with a ton of moeny fighting over a niche that unless you jam one with ton of good shit to make it stand out among the other grass mons or other mons in general it will fail.

Amoongus is a poison type which is a great defensive type and synergizes well with grass. Scizor is a good defensive mon but that doesn't mean that bug is a good defensive type.

A niche set is exacly that, niche. Ariados also had a niche set in DPP ubers but no one is using that to argue that it's a good mon.

Grass is bad in a vacuum.
GF gives some grassmons good tools to compensate, and that's nice for mons like Rillaboom and Venusaur and Amoonguss, but the vast majority don't get that treatment and are just stuck with 5 weaknesses and a STAB that's resisted by 7 types.
It's obviously not as bad as bug or ice, where GF doesn't even bother to throw them a bone, but just slapping the grass typing on a mon would make it worse 9 times out of 10.

Biggest victim complex? Bug, easily.
Biggest undeserved victim complex? Steel.
