Take for example Primarina which the pokedex tells us is know as a "songstress" which is a female title or professor laventon in Arceus refering to Kirlia as a maiden or how Gardevoir "dress" appears like that worn of women of nobility. We know these are species that have both male and female members but here you have human anthropocentrism rearing it's head and assigning gendered titles to these creatures. I think it's a nice touch of realism even if it's not intended.

It depends on if the mechanics of pokemon breeding would be "canon" and moves could be genetically inherited, or if traits were passed on through offspring by real-life classical genetics and moves always have to be retaught.
If the former was true, then males would be pretty useful for the same reasons they are ingame (passing on moves to offspring).
If the latter was true, dittos could entirely replace the males. You could have adequate breeding stock with only females and dittos and teach the babymons whatever moves are needed after the fact.
