the post-2008 economic messes they made, whilst different, are one of the same thing and will play out badly for both. the us and china are not the same but the financial orthodoxy that underpins both (and every country) are similar and essentially keynsian/monetarist.

I'm leaning to this too. If the cold war was a genuine battle between two ruling classes then this definitely isn't like that. China and the US are way too intertwined by trade to ever meaningfully do anything like that, even long term I don't see it happening.

Im thinking about buying one or two apartments (or one small house) to rent them out, if Im lucky they will be paid off when Im in my 60s or early 70s.
