pick up a profitable hobby like growing weed or farming chickens. did you know a chicken costs about $1 or some are free even and it gives you an egg a day plus a rotisserie chicken sells for 7 or $8
The world certainly isn't fair, but you sound you like you're conscientious, so I wouldn't feel bad about the fact you got lucky. If you're able to escape this hell - do it. Don't be made to feel bad about the fact you're no longer a slave, that would be exactly what they want. You're free now.
