What is the probability that Germany will suffer a gas shortage this fall and winter, and what would the finance and economic results be?

Germany immediately switches to nuclear power
No protests because no one wants to be cold
Energy prices plummet
Shitcoins pump like never before seen on this earth

first it wont, second large proportion of homes rely on gas for heating, not electricity

Don't worry, they have a plan!

Why can't Germans just use sweaters and blankets to warm themselves? It seems like a simple solution.

>Germany immediately switches to nuclear power
We have 3 plants that we could switch back on again in theory. That is nowhere near enough.

The other problem is that you cannot switch them on again easily. You need new fuel. You need to rehire workers, most of them specialists.

also have to understand that the party in charge in Germany, is the very party that is founded on anti nuclear sentiment. the german green party saying lets try nuclear, is like mike pence or donald would go on a stage and say fuc Jesus, its inherently opposed to their brand

It won’t. Nuclear power plants cost $15B and barely produce 1100 MHw/year. Only a brain dead faggot would use nuclear power plants for energy productions. There are far more capital efficient ways to produce electricity.

Nord Stream 1 is shut down now for routine maintenance. Normally, it would reopen on July 21. That's the date when the fun could begin.

how?

the last three nuclear reactores produce each roughly 1400mhw/y and i could not find any information on how much they cost to run yearly, but since you understated the energy production so heavily, i guess you have either no clue either or are lying

>Germany does something sensible...
Stop there. Germans are literally going to burn wood for warmth before that happens.

There's also the fact to consider that Germany has recently decommissioned plants to re-instate. That costs far less than building new ones.

Munich (as example..) can drop to -10-15 °C in Winter. You cant tell your water pipes to 'put another jumper on'. NoGaz, water must be turned off so pipes don't bust, lots will anyway, electricity prices are through the roof, oldies start solidifying.. Its an actual horror scenario.

I dont really think there is anything going to happen here, the Russians/Gazprom/Putin could literally just rugpull or just stop exporting gas overnight, they do not need any sort of excuse as they have no reason at all to not do it and everyone internationally realises this. If Russia wanted to cancel the deliveries, they could just say: Germany and the EU are supporting the Nazis and we can not deliver gas anymore due to their actions against us...

cope, get ready to freeze

Nuclear plants take 10-15 years to build user which is why Merkel is a criminal and should be jailed if we held our leader accountable. She single handedly impoverished hundreds of millions of europeans with her retarded policies (and I'm not talking about the rapes).

>immediately
Kek. It takes a long time to get those back up and running

whatever you say. Why would Russia not deliver? Gas is at ATH and Russia makes billions a week selling it while Ukraine is lucky to get a few million a week. This entire situation is farcical.

Yes, but we’re talking about setting your thermostat to 10 instead of 20. It’s a big difference in consumption.

hans haz not suffered genough

It's a two-way street tho. A third of Russias budget is from Energy Sales and once Germany turns its back, not even Putin is naive enough to think they'll be returning to eat more Ivan shit anytime soon.

Isn't almost all of the Worlds Uranium comes from Kazakhstan? Another Russian satellite state?
