I'm not an expert but corporates with high yields have certain probabilities of defaulting that are not neglible. I don't like corporate bonds if they are blow investment grade. Higher yields than IG has pretty poor riska-adjusted returns so you aren't getting the volatility dampening effect and you are better off in equities.
