I only bother watching the returns and wc battles episodes and even so I still end up coming out disappointed. PokeAni has never been a masterpiece but it has never this much of a wet fart. The other user who says PM is a monkey paw is completely correct.

I actually like what they were going for...in theory.
Ash was chipping away at Drasna's Pokemon via attrition and lots of switching, which ties into the subplot of Sirfetch'd and Dracovish becoming a buddy duo and cheering each other on. They even mention in dialogue that the reason Meteor Assault defeated Altaria was because of attrition from previous damage.
But they made it look too much like a lot of what Ash was throwing out just didn't do anything at all, which is compounded by Ash doing the dumb move of Dragon Rush vs Mega Altaria, and the stiff animation on top really didn't help things.

I think if I was going to compare this battle to other ones that had similar ideas, I'd bring up vs Tyson and vs Conway.
Against Tyson they had that bit where Pikachu took advantage of the cracks in Metagross created by Grovyle, that's a more concrete way of showing the audience what's happening. Like maybe they could've had Ash try the "drench Altaria with Water Gun" strat again, except combine that with something Sirfetch'd can do.
vs Conway they had a similar structure where Ash was getting hardwalled by a strategy that he overcomes via swapping Pokemon a lot and trying lots of different ideas. Part of the problem with vs Drasna is that it's 2v2 though, switching just feels a lot more pointless when you have that few total Pokemon.
