This kills the gen 2 hacker. Their soul is dwindling.

what is it with essentials always having clashing art style

we get it, you play earthbound

i still cant tell if this is an actual game or just one of those art pieces or whatever

it's being made into an actual game; the art pieces look way less functional, I'll demonstrate

Is from an actual game that someone from the Kantoredrawn art project is actually making.
I think the other 2 are older footage idk.

oh wack, lmao
game looks really pretty, how long have you been working on it?

lmao

for examples:

these aren't playable

The account that makes these was created may 2020 and latest screenshot was September last year.

It's the single best looking fangame I've ever seen, at least as far as the overworld is concern

it raises the bar for what's acceptable tremendously, making even the official games look shoddy

Hope it actually finishes though.

while it would be nice to be playable, I think it still serves a lot of value even if it could only be observed and experienced second-hand, because I haven't seen too much in the way of additions to the exploratory aspect of Pokemon---it's a good looking game, but it hasn't apparently taken a next step in terms of the gameplay.

My point being, it really establishes how a fangame should look like now and makes stuff like in the OP look like utter garbage, so I think it progressed the scene even if it only ended up being an unreleased playable "art project".

Why does no one ever just say what it is?

I think you underestimate how long it takes to make quality pixel art. Think of games like Owlboy or Eastward. It takes years, or decades. And they were commercial projects. There will never be a point when art this good is standard in free rom hacks.

To raise intrigue and get attention.

do not put your shitty fakemon into your game, thank you
