If you complain about the Exp Share being mandatory in later games then you are playing the games incorrectly. You are not supposed to autistically pick a team of 6 Pokemon before the game even releases and only ever catch/use those Pokemon. You are supposed to work on completing the Pokedex throughout the course of the game and constantly maintaining a large roster of Pokemon that you constantly switch out.

Stop defending less options.

Stop getting mad at pointless toggles not existing.

It actually gives you more options since you have a wider range of usable Pokemon.

That's not what he means and you know it.

>EXP share always on
You are contantly gaining experience that your whole team gets, meaning that if you go out of your way to catch Pokemon, explore and battle all the trainers (y'know, playing the game) your team will end up overlevelling, meaning that the game become exceptionally easy, forcing out any kind of challenge unless you rotate through a huge team. This option benefits players who want to rush through the game and no one else.

VS

>you can turn EXP share off
The same as above, except you can also choose to turn it off, meaning only your current Pokemon gains the experience, preventing your team from overlevelling and allowing you to experience every challenge how you want, without having to maintain an enormous team. This option benefits literally everyone.

It's unarguable that the toggle absolutely gives more options. Don't be obtuse.

>This option benefits players who want to rush through the game and no one else.
It also benefits people who want to use a wide range of Pokemon throughout the main game. You literally said this in the previous sentence.

>preventing your team from overlevelling and allowing you to experience every challenge how you want
You can do this with the modern Exp Share, just catch more Pokemon and use them instead.

Your entire argument is based on this self-imposed challenge that you can only ever use 6 Pokemon in one playthrough. Which is utterly ridiculous given that there are literally hundreds to choose from in the game.

In the end, they made it permanent because most players were leaving it on for the benefits.

vp btfo by casual play.

So what every single normie does because that's what Ash would do.

Legends sucked

I don't see how any of your post is meant to discredit people who want it as an option.

>You are not supposed to autistically pick a team of 6 Pokemon and only ever catch/use those Pokemon.
Source?

using only a team of six may be an autistic self-imposed challenge, but it's still a thing that players can do. even if there's an intended way to play the game, ignoring the choices players can make in favor of forcing them into the playstyle you want is bad game design, especially in something as customizeable as pokemon.

>NOOOOO I CAN'T ARBITRARILY HANDICAP MYSELF WITH THE EXP SHARE ANYMORE!!!
arbitrarily handicap yourself another way then. Problem solved. It's literally a non-issue.

>IP count didn't go up

Ash always catches more than 6 Pokemon and he swaps them around. The later games actually encourage you to play like Ash.

>ignoring the choices players can make in favor of forcing them into the playstyle you want is bad game design
you have no clue how game design works.

Isn't there an option to turn off exp share? If not, there should be so this won't matter

Menu B is better 100% of the time.
If we're going to continue to have something as superfluous as text speed options in a game that requires you to confirm you've read every text box, there's no reason we can't have more game-altering options. Especially not if they're ones that have existed previously.

>Menu B is better 100% of the time
thanks for once again demonstrating you're a dumbfuck who doesn't understand game design.

There hasn't been since Let's Go. It's not an even item or something you obtain anymore, it just is.

Not an argument.

game mechanics =/= playstyle
a more apt comparison would be going through a sonic level walking. it's not how you're supposed to play, but you can do it.

Yes an argument.

Exp gains are a game mechanic you dumbfuck.

Then yeah, GF should just add the option to turn it on/off

Except they literally can't. They can't go solo, the mon will be too strong. More mons means more options means less challenge, so that's out of the question. They're already going bag-less so that's taken care of. There's not really much left besides the more autistic stuff like nuzlocke or low%.

>play like Ash.
I wish.

>Except they literally can't
I'm 100% certain the game will be challenging if you try to evenly level 30 pokemon at once. Try harder.

again you've missed the point. the choice being made here is how a player wants to build their team, and if the player wants to use the same six pokemon then the game should have options to accomodate that, therefore having the option to disable the Exp. Share is PIVOTAL to the player's experience.
you cannot refute this.

Permabox a Pokemon every time it wins a battle. Try that for a challenge.

and just to put this issue to rest, we know gamefreak can add the option to disable the exp share because it's been in past games so there is NO REASON why they can't keep doing it.
/thread for real this time

We know it's possible because there's mods that do that exactly.
BDSP had one before the games even released.

OP’s anus

>if the player wants to use the same six pokemon then the game should have options to accomodate that
There's nothing stopping you from beating the game like this with the exp share turned on. If you're going to complain about the game being too easy, a far better solution would be for Game Freak to include a hard mode with better trainer teams, rather than being lazy and just letting you receive slightly less experience.
