gen 5 is when the nostalgia wore off for most Any Forums manchildren, so even though the games do almost everything thing the same if not better than previous games, people will still shitpost as if it's worse than other games they grew up with because they cannot comprehend others not circlejerking their supposedly objective opinions
I too will admit gen 5 was when I originally dropped off the series, but when I eventually got around to playing it, it and especially BW2 became among my favorites
