I'll post it again. There is only one way for a fusion mechanic to work.
It gives Pokemon new colors/typing/moveset.
>Venusaur fuses with Charizard
Charizard is now green with venusaur's moveset and grass/poison typing, it retains its own stats however.
>Landorus fuses with Golduck
Golduck is now orange with Landorus' moveset and flying/ground typing, it keeps its own moveset.
This allows for a massive amount of variety when it comes to unique Pokemon, not only that it significantly makes more Pokemon vastly more balanced and usable, and gives us hundreds of more unique shinies/colors.
This is the best idea for Fusion and the only one that would logically make sense and be implemented properly.

rather than completely losing its own type, it makes more sense for the fusion to only keep both primary types (arranged by dex number)
so Venuzard is Grass/Fire and Goldorus Water/Groud
