It's weird, I didn't realise how bad of a Generation Gen V was until I starting posting here but you're right, it is actually really quite a lot worse than I remember.

Some of the rehashing of designs were okay like Trubbish/Dwebble/Woobat unironically. The problem was the sheer quantity of Kanto rehashes and the lack of any returning Pokemon made it feel like a soft reboot. Remember at the time there were a handful of Kantomons that had appeared in every regional dex

I get why they'd want to depart from this, but they did it in a way that ended up creating dex-bloat and a hard distinction between old and new gens

Dweble and Crustle and Oddish and Petilil don't seem very valid, but for the others you're right. The Kanto influence is obvious, particularly the fighting types (Timburr line, Sawk and Throh) and Klinklang. I'd argue that Bouffalant isn't a knockoff of Tauros, but rather that both are basically based on bovidae, so the real life influence is the the cause of the similarity.

Nope, if anything Bouffalant is one of the most blatant homages. They're late game mons just like Tauros. They behave the same according to the dex entries. They have the same exact type. They even shatr the same exact base stat total with attack being the highest.

Not to mention they almost look exactly the same, so much so that everyone was certain it was an evolution when Bouffalant was first revealed.
Miltank is also a bovidae and she looks nothing like Tauros so that's not an excuse.
