There are plenty of turn-based RPGs where the characters don't just lifelessly stare at each other between moves. They're in the middle of a goddamn fight, it makes no sense to just stand there

Pokemon don't have time to "wait for commands". Battles are fast-paced, the Pokemon are always on the move, looking for an opening to attack. Just standing there like a dumbass is the quickest way to lose

Hitmontop from Gen 6 onwards. It actually has a proper stance for its fighting style. We need more idle animations like this and less of the Pokemon just staring each other down.

almost every pokemon has idle animations, in legends they even added more and increased the wait time between them by a ton. smt has the same shit, idk how you pulled out of your ass that smt has good idles and pokemon doesnt

But why are you basing the entire game off of just this screenshot? Pikachu and Larvitar do the exact same thing in the Colosseum games. Hell in Legends the Pokémon do all kinds of different animations while waiting for command
