"Ultra" type. Mega evolution but instead of a new form the pokemon just gets covered in a glowy wavy rainbow aura or texture and it will deal and receive regular damage from all other types except other ultra types where it deals and receives super effective damage. Upon entering ultra state pokemon have their attack stats doubled for the duration of ultra state

Maybe...it's like a type crystal you have your pokemon hold and then it turns say, Thunderbolt either into electric/ice dual type or changes Tbolt into pure Ice, for one turn.
