Welp, sure glad I diversified a little from crypto into precious metals few months back. It was unironically Holocoins that first got me into PM’s, now I can’t stop stacking
>Im one of the people who got rekt by celsius. Lost about 20k. Looking to gold for wealth preservation for my future. Do you guys mostly buy the gold coins from one of the sites in the OP? Or the bars?
Depending where you're from matters when buying precious metals, but here's a noob guy guide:
1. If it sounds too good to be true it probably is. 2. There's spot price and then there's premium price. Under 10% premium is a good deal. However in recent times the premiums on silver have gone through the roof, you won't get new silver coins below 30% so gold is currently the better investment. 3. Precious metals aren't about getting rich, they're a hedge against fiat for survival in economic downturn and a comfy living in your old again when you sell. 4. If you're in the UK, get gold or silver Britannias as they are capital gains tax free. Gold coins are VAT free as well. 5. Buy from Royal Mint if you don't know who to trust. You pay a little more premium for piece of mind. 6. Don't talk about your precious metals stash in public loosely as someone might hear making you a target to rob. 7. Modern Britannias come with a load of security features making it very difficult for them to be counterfeit. That will also make them easier to sell in the future
I'm buying crypto dips until next bullrun, I'd prefer to stack metal but no interest and no swinging is not good for me. Also I can't stop buying premiums.
Where can i buy one of those fancy boxes you all use to keep your coins in?
Chase Hall
the OP is a good first stop for the most common countries in here, if you are from somewhere else definitely check those prices. Bars run the danger of being brass, and if someone steals even one of them it's a great loss. You also won't be able to exchange it well in the (unlikely, BUT) SHTF scenario, precisely because of the brass rumors. Well known coins are easily checked for their correct measurements (diameter, weight), recognized and security features as the other user pointed out. Speaking from Germany, we currently don't mint any gold as far as I know (everything we mint right now is ugly as shit and they put PLASTICS in the coins) so I went with some established internationals, picrel. I paid 1638€ for the krug and 1732€ for the maple, both 1-2% over spot which is quite fair. Silver is for smaller denominations. This is when you think we might end up in hyperinflation, I find that to be quite likely myself so I invested quite a bit. I asked my uncle who is a farmer what he'd take for food in a hyperinflation scenario, his answer was "ammo, gold, silver, maybe gasoline. for our family, you guys can live here and just work, we'll feed you and teach you how to shoot to make the looters fuck off".
