The only explanation I read that made any sort of sense is that we had 9 red weeks in a row, so traders think it can't continue for much longer and the price is bound to go up.
Personally I think we'll continue crabbing or going down for another year and a half, but I'm not a whale, so what do I know.

Exactly this. Longers made a lot of money with the short squeeze of last year (going from $ 28k in July to $ 69k in November), so they think they can do the same thing again. Too bad for them the shorters that got decimated last year aren't shorting this time, so zero incentive for a short squeeze.

Maybe, and hear me out, they completely want to rearrange their portfolio, get all the dog shit out and focus on more long term investments to be in a great position 1-2 years from now, when crypto is actually being used to stabilize the world economy, but rather then sell all at once they laddered down to give us assholes a chance to save our bank accounts.

If you think that your magic internet money is going to stabilize anything, then you haven't been paying attention. This was it. This was the opportunity to see whether that theory holds up but the entire crypto space collapsed in on itself like any other speculative asset, a speculative asset, mind you, that is propped up entirely by sentiment with zero fundamentals. And people invested in crypto showed how much they believe in it by panic selling everything and running right back into the arms of the USD even after the disastrous CPI report of last Friday. Yes, that's right. It doesn't matter how much the USD gets fucked in every available orifice by daddy inflation. Everyone will still learn to love her for who she is because at least she's not going to suicide by jumping off of a cliff every time she gets gangraped.
