Gen 1 anime is still the lens by which I view this entire series even 20 years on. Best vision for the series easily. Too many other pieces of Pokemon media forget the importance of emphasizing wanderlust and the wonders of nature.
Pokemon at it's best. And genuinely just a good entry among the myriad of feel-good comfy anime of the time. Also one of the best dubjobs in anime history.

People project their experiences of struggling to capture certain Pokémon in game, and yet Goh can easily just chuck a single Poke Ball at a fully evolved Pokémon at full health or barely weaken said Pokémon, and catch it. Most of his captures are instantaneous and effortless. There is also the fact that he does not use most of them. He has over 100 Pokémon so far and he never really uses any more than 10.

Any sort of completely story of the day stuff like Journeys is a bad idea. Sun and Moon was bad but kept adults and teenagers watching because it's Pokémon and it has many waifus and fanservice shots of Mallow.

Pokemon has always been episodic, user. Hell, Kanto's strength was never it's plot, but the episodic monster of the day episodes.

I am aware of that. However, even in those universes, it is still more difficult to capture Pokémon. Goh has a near 100 percent success rate for catching Pokemon with a single Poke Ball on his first try, Pokemon that even in those universes have low catch rates.
Dewgong, Flygon, Aerodactyl, and Scyther iirc were the only ones he struggled against.

Anime is quite literally the reason the series is international at the very least. Every kid found out about the games from the anime in the western world and every kid who played the games watched the anime but kids who didn't play games watched the anime too.

Yeah, the anime and the TCG is the main reason why Pokemon got big internationally. People forget that the games weren't cheap and not everyone could afford them.
