I really miss daily events in Pokemon games...

I really miss daily events in Pokemon games. The bug catching contest was a really fun way to get me to come back to the game every week and had NPCs that made the world feel more "lived in" and we havn't had another feature like this since seasons
Lately I feel like Pokemon is just a short quest to get everyone to the postgame, with posame being online play and battle tower grinding, very lame. There's no reason to play PLA after completing the story and missions either, and it has less pokemon to catch than most mainline games. Anyone else miss when the game actually gave you a reason to play them?

Did you know you can do the SS Aqua four times a week after your initial trip to Vermillion, and the trainers on board differ depending on whether you depart from Olivine or Vermillion?

You can also fly back to the town you sailed from and reride the ship as long it’s the same day.

These things did nothing for me.
Hunting alphas and shinies in PLA to make thematic screenshots between groups of Pokemon gives me a reason to play and I enjoy seeing other people's screenshots/teams.
It's subjective.

I'm not a fan of things that required specific days of the week, but daily events and time-related ones are cool.

autism

>Taking screenshots is gameplay now
You can hunt shinies in every game, the thing is you can catch shinies and alphas over the course of a week of so and be done with the PLA, but timed events would be bringing you back every week or month to experience actaul gameplay with rewards.

>catching pokemon isn't gameplay
>but catching pokemon is
i shig user

I miss them a lot too. Everything is made convinient now but at the cost of feeling rewarding or exciting. Why go to a cave on Friday to catch lapras when it's just a free handout or there in the wild area or whatever

Okay drone

You don't even have to battle to catch pokemon in PLA, how is that gameplay? You're just doing busy work because the game has nothing else to offer

>screenshots between groups of Pokemon gives me a reason to play and I enjoy seeing other people's screenshots/teams. It's subjective.
This is the most zoomer thing I've ever read.

I guess new fans don't want a game they just want instagram clout

yeah good job filling the PLA dex without battling wild Pokémon, lmao

>You're just doing busy work because the game has nothing else to offer
Literally what OP is doing. Pick up the game, do your shitty little daily minigames and then put the game down because there's nothing to actually do.

Have you ever played a pre-Gen 6 Pokemon game? There's tons to do and tons of replayability. PLA not so much.

Except the bug catching contest is how you can catch certain pokemon and get items... it isn't just busy work for screenshots, it actually serves a purpose in a fun and rewarding way

I strongly agree. It’s a good way to encourage gradual gameplay which, while this is likely an unpopular opinion, I really really like. I want to slowly experience all a game has to offer over a long period of time, that’s how I experienced Pokémon games as a kid since I’d usually get stuck and then fuck off and do side activities everyday instead till I stumbled upon the correct path. But now that I’m an adult that’s only really doable if the game actively incentives it by rewarding players like this, with timed events and content that you’d likely miss out on if you simply rushed through the game.

There is more to do in gen 2 than PLA.
>breeding
>pvp
>making apricot balls
>casino
>battle tower
>the aformentoned dailies
>linking to stadium 2 for challenging battles and mystery gifts
>printing stickers

Agreed. I would adore if future legends games used the real time clock and had events like this.

>>breeding
That's just going back and forth hoping for good RNG. It's no different than shiny hunting or alpha hunting whatever else
>>making apricot balls
You're constantly picking up materials throughout the game with your Pokemon to craft balls and more which serve broader gameplay purposes than just more types of pokeballs to catch mons in.
>>casino
Literal RNG grind. If you want to play gacha then go buy merch from Ginter.
>>battle tower
Not in the originals and while unfortunately limited you can still battle trainers after getting Ingo to open up his facility. Definitely needs improving.
>>linking to stadium 2 for challenging battles and mystery gifts
Pokemon Home and future games exist. Stadium 2 didn't exist at the time of release either.
>>printing stickers
Just print out your screenshots lmao.
The only thing that it's really missing here is dailies which is just a soulless excuse to pick up a game because you don't actually have any self-motivation to enjoy the game on your own terms and PvP, which is a shame. Would have been fun to fuck around with styles against other people.

>more content doesn't count because... it just doesn't
The PLA cope is real. I hope Legends Johto fixes the game's lack of content

HOME has no gameplay and there is no guarantee that pokemon even introduced in PLA get to be in the next game
