Good luck replacing them long term. They have 1/4th of all the gas reserves in the world. And at current rates of consuption you're going to need them in at most 75-80 years. Natural gas is being used extremely quickly compared to oil. It will br the first fossil fuel to run out. Once the middle east is dry, which will happen relatively soon, you'll be beegging russia for gas.
This is neither a way to praise or to rejoice about it. It's just the truth. Russian gas is a necessity. You can't go without it long term.
