When the depression hits, many companies are going to force you back. My firm is committed long-term to remote. We provide services with measurable progress so it's easy to tell if someone isn't working.

I actually enjoy coming into the office as do most of my colleagues but there's just no reason to do it five days a week. When my company sent out the survey asking what people wanted, not many said they wanted to completely work from home but basically nobody said they wanted to return five days a week.

When you fail to separate work from home you end up living a more miserable life, as that line blurs it becomes harder and harder to "be off work" while your station is 20 ft away. There us a lot if comfort in disconnecting when you leave the office.

I worked there 5 years. I am one of the few backend developers there. If I leave multiple teams will collapse temporarily but it will be bad for them long term as well.

I just stay home whenever I feel like. It kinda sucks because the web developers start copying me then I get my manager asking me to come into meetings in person and I have to say no I'll just call you.

Next week looks like I'll have to go into the office to fend then off a bit. Sucks because I don't like working those hours when the stock market is open and I'm trying to learn how to scalp options.

I'll keep wfh whenever though until they are just fine with me doing hybrid. If anybody says anything directly I will use that as leverage for a raise.
