Statistically no

Hard work and a firm handshake

No

No

Define rich and define luck.

Yes! Crime, violence, and corruption! However, the state is trying to saturate the market but there is still lots of room for the little guy if you get a good niche.

You can't do ANYTHING without luck
you still need to meet the right people, not get killed by opposing gangs and not get caught by the police...

Yes but you'll be old and not filthy rich

yes, you can. everyone in this thread is NGMI.

Yes.
>be me
>father goes bankrupt when I was 17
>we lose house, everything
>get through uni with scholarships, work, no partying
>record time graduating, get scholarship for master degree in the US top uni
>be 22, get hired by great company in NY because applied for job and did great in interviews
>worked super hard
>moved back to Europe
>get promoted, team leader
>recognised by competitors
>get poached, now department head, make 400k base and bonus that can go up to 1 mill
>still early 30s

I started from 0, never used shortcuts or family relations, always took the straight way forward and based on merits. Never even had any luck that I know of. Parents both have no uni degrees either, never pushed me in school, pusher myself from age 5 on.

Downside: my gf is bitchy and I want to break up with her, while a year ago I wanted to marry her. Plus got a chronic internal disease which is genetic and emerged when I was 18.

Depends how you define it. If you spend 10 years working tirelessly to get a business off the ground and finally get your big break people will point to that big break as if you got randomly lucky without acknowledging the decade of work you put in.

You ain't rich you're a wageslave

Define rich then.

Be a literal genius prodigy, otherwise no

Hard work, being an extrovert and luck go hand in hand. Good for you but dont be a retard.

I am not an extrovert. I had no luck whatsoever.

Absolutely not, imagine if you were born a disabled indian whose parents were farmers circa 1650. You'd have zero chance of getting rich. The key is understanding that 'luck' is an ambiguous concept with no discrete definition and cannot be totally factored out of a given set of events. Therefore you should think of 'hard work' as the number of 'lottery tickets' you buy. Some people buy hundreds per day, some people only buy three. Sometimes the guy who only buys one, gets a jackpot.

You are delusional.

How?

Kind of a stupid question. Are we assuming this hypothetical person goes through life with absolutely no opportunities pretending themselves? Do they live in a bubble? Sounds like the question really is "how do I get rich with little effort".

No you need the luck to have >100 IQ and a somewhat healthy body.

Just rug.

There are many hard working people, some of them probably work harder than you and yet they don't have such great success stories.
Not trying to shit on your parade, good for you for getting where you are. Luck did play a role in your life by putting the opportunities in your path for you to seize, whether you looked for them or not, they were there for the taking, simple as.

Depends how far you want to stretch what 'luck' encompasses

>You're lucky that you had that great idea for a product that made you wealthy
