Especially when compared to such gen I hits as Golem, Krabby, Seel, Beedrill and Persian the Siamese.

Undeniable. When I was 10, I spent 5 hours trying to remember Geobod... Egogod... Geofood... name. Instead of going to sleep. And I still remember it to this very day because of how awful it was. Who the fuck came up with that name anyway? It's like a trap for a child's brain. So deceptively simple and yet so hard to solve. I didn't even know wtf is dude is even supposed to be. It wasn't in the dictionary or anything. I bet my brain was still be wondering what the hell Geobod meant after 5 hours of trying to think up. This thing's got more depth than my soul can fathom. If you ever felt like getting a headache trying to solve the mystery to the point of sleeplessness and frustration, Geodude is your bro. Awful memories, awful name, awful discovery. A true gem of uninspired translation choices inducing childhood trauma on innocent children. Thanks, Gamefreak, for creating that mental hazard making me want to murder myself by sleep deprivation.
