Money Saving Meal Tips

Any anons want to share money saving meal tips? I recently started making batches of chicken noodle soup that can serve 10 and freezing the leftovers. It’s a great source of protein and vitamins from the veggies. I’ve been buying in bulk and the average cost of each meal is less than a cup of ramen. I’ve only eaten chicken noodle soup for the past three weeks and I haven’t gotten tired of it yet. I’ve even tried different ways of consuming

Any anons know other good cheap meals to make that are high in protein/vitamins?

Beans and rice in bulk. You're on the right track with the soups. Drink water instead of soft drinks. Reuse teabags instead of coffee.

Brown rice, frozen bulk broccoli, bulk chicken or fish, 5 dozen eggs, multivitamins. should be the basis of your diet. you'll get fit naturally and save lots of money. highly recommend black beans as well.

That's it. That's all there is to it. Weeks where you end up cleaning out your pantry and you have to buy everything you might spend ~$110, but that's fine, because the next week you know you'll be spending $20 for four pounds of meat and that's it. Buy what you'll eat and eat what you'll buy. Your frozen chicken noodle soup looks disgusting to me, but if it works for you then more power to you.

What does bulk chicken look like? Buying while chickens and deboning? Or a giant bag of frozen tenders?

like chicken breasts. Before covid it was under 99 cents a pound. Now it's about $2.50 or so, but still the cheapest meat you can get besides sausage (depending on price, sausage can be a good deal as well).

At my store chicken breast is 4 dollars a pound. Maybe 3.50 if going for the cheapest option. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong stores. Are you buying frozen or fresh?

I go to Aldi's and Walmart and I think a place called Food Lion. All cheap shitholes. I didn't used to. But it's usually frozen. If you have a membership to a store that allows you to buy in bulk, you'll have more savings. I'd say buy a freezer but your goal is to save money.

Yeah I have an extra freezer with some empty space so yeah I should go for it. I'd just be afraid I'd be caught a few years from now wondering why I let all that frozen chicken go to waste when I buy fresh every week. I guess I just gotta retrain my brain to reach into the freezer.

I believe your goal right now should generally be prepping for continually rising food prices. I can't as much as I'd like, but I converted my linen closet to store probably a hundred pounds of various pasta, rice, beans, and some calorie dense canned goods. freezer is full of chicken and sausage, and usually have some chicken thawed out in the fridge i intend to cook quickly.
