Went shopping today

Holy fuck. Parking lot was full. Parking lot across the street was full. Nike had a line to get in. Coach had a line. Ducking CROX had a goddamn line. People waiting in line to cop Mario fucking Batali’s style. People everywhere. This is in the Bay Area of all places. As someone who’s been bearish, this experience made me feel like an absolute retard. There is no recession here in California. People are filling stores to give away their money. Go to the Livermore outlets if you live around here to see what I’ve seen. Picrel is what it looked like 6 months ago. Ghost town. Pent up demand is real. Retail earnings are going to be bonkers.

Hey that's the place from GTA5

My son just got $300 in Roblox cards for his birthday. His friends are all asking for the same thing from his family. Kids are getting really in to Pokémon again too. I bought Nintendo last week. If I’m down for a while, fine. I have plenty of cash, but I’m going to be buying. What is see with my own eyes is not reflecting the doom I was expecting at all.

Part of the reason is because California had the longest lockdown
Even when it ended local places kept tighter restrictions in place
People are even wearing masks in your pic
Most places stopped wearing masks before that

It’s a real outdoor mall in Livermore,CA. SF premium outlets.

Life was great in 1999 too

That pic is from months ago. I’m telling you, this place looked like an ant farm. You can imagine the smell.

>This is in the Bay Area of all places
well... no shit.. thats one of the most popular places in califronia

Also, many people in California wear masks still because they are retards and think it protects them. It doesn’t stop them from going anywhere. I was at Disney Land a few weeks ago. Maybe 1% wearing a mask. No social distancing. No limited capacity. Packed to the gills with people throwing their money at anything that was shiny. It was again, not what I expected. Pic is actual trip photo.

I’m not arguing to go all in. This isn’t financial advice. I just wanted to provide a perspective that was contrary to even my own. I hate this place. I was constantly harassed over the mask mandate because I refused to take part in it. I was able to enjoy months of not having to share space with people because they were to scared to leave their house and breathe air, but that ended a long time ago. I think earnings next quarter are going to surprise people. I’ll leave it at that.

I want more than anything for the market to crash and return to a rational valuation. I’m not a baggie. I sold before it happened because I felt the rumble of the tracks before the train wreck that was the last 6 months. I just don’t think it’ll be as broad as I thought. I think it’ll be more complicated than that.

The Bay Area? You mean where all the rich people live? Because the only way someone can afford a decent living is by making six figures and chances are you'll find someone on your street making well over 100k.
