Anyone else here feel so overwhelmed when it comes to furnishing their house? I have 75k in cash but don’t know where to spend it. I have shitty taste and have no idea how to decorate properly. How do you into artwork, plants, painting, etc? Where the fuck do you even go to buy furniture? I’m too embarrassed to have a woman over

I have a few paintings up, but they're all kind of odd. One of my favorites is an extremely bland and boring painting of a plant inside of a Japanese style house. I saw it at a thrift shop and bought it because I thought that only a psychopath would ever hang it up unironically.
Don't buy shit that isn't interesting to you is all I have to say.

Just go unto facebook marketplace or local thrift shops and just be very picky when it comes to looking for good deals. There’s a lot of good wooden furniture out there and you would quickly develop a taste for furniture, looking at it in person.

I'm shit at decorating too. Luckily, when I bought my house last year I negotiated with the previous owners to leave behind the furniture, tables, bed frames, rugs, curtains, etc.

Keep it barebones and say you just moved in and apologize about it. If it gets serious enough to shack up she will do the homey stuff, and the more empty space the better. She won't want to clash with your aesthetic or demand you throw things away.
