You have no idea of this stuff. Heating water costs WAY more energy then all other things electricity is beeing used for for. There is no way this is possible, and it WILL cause a huge spike in prices if russia really cuts the gas

i used to work in a factory in pennsylvania. when it was really hot out, the electric company would sometimes pay us a fuckload of money to shut down ALL of our equipment (it was a huge factory) for several hours, to prevent a brown out. it's not an unprecedented idea.

Germany can get their own gas with fracking. When there are no more 1st world problems, the entire green shit will fall apart and everything will work just fine without muh CO2 garbage.

The EU buy more than half their production. China will not replace this because 1. it's technically impossible since there no pipelines going to China like the ones going through Europe, they can't just make liquid gas tankers fall from the skies and replace all the pipeline exports with liquid gas exports 2. even if they were willing and able to buy all this Russian gas, they will buy it at a severely discounted price.
As for the cash reserves of Russia most of them have been freezed by the sanctions. Only the reserves in yuan are accessible, it's like 30% of them.
Of course they will not stop supplying gas to Europe from their own will, it would be game over for them, that's literally what is paying for their war and everything else. They're main fear is that the EU find ways to get rid of their dependency on their gas. So they're trying to play their hand now while it has still some value, bit it's a bit obvious and desperate.

Europe can get chilly even in the spring.
