is one 1/4oz gold coin really enough though? I wouldn't say so. I buy a few boxes of ammo with each paycheck, and I'm going to start a small food stockpile as well. what else can I do? I'm not looking to go full prepper with gas masks and shit because I don't believe it'll really get that bad, but the talk of the town right now is coming food shortages, at least in third world countries (i.e. Europe)

I'd be much more interested if there were some way to make the gold supply actually fixed. One issue almost all economy-having minecraft servers have is inflation, since anyone can gather resources, which are plentiful.

I know Ill catch a lot of heat in this thread for it, but gold is superior to silver simply on the fact that you can fit more up your ass then silver. Also silver causes issues due to its antimicrobial nature in your digestive tract.
We all remember what happened to user who put the kit kat silver bar up his ass.
