Hypothetically speaking how can I profit from a nuclear exchange? Do water filters like Alexapure work on water which has been irradiated or is cancer inevitable? Should I invest in Uranium stocks or will people be pretty done with uranium if there's a nuclear war? Seeds? Hostess maybe, since that shit is designed to literally survive a nuclear war.

Water filters do not work on radiation. Alpha and beta radiation aka fallout are going to be your primary concerns. Alpha and beta particles typically come in the form of dust irradiated during the initial detonation of the nuclear device. Your best bet is to have stored water indoors which will not be irradiated should a nuclear device go off nearby.

As for food I’d recommend canned veggies, dry white rice and canned meat or otherwise dried meat. You’ll probably need at least three month’s worth so you could potentially leave the area you’re in and venture to a FEMA camp or military base.

I’d recommend stocking up on bullets, liquor and nicotine along with pharmaceuticals for bartering purposes.

Crates of liquor and cartons of cigarettes are probably the best way to set yourself up for such a scenario. Whether or not whole system falls apart, both will be scarce and highly sought after. Plus they are easy items to stack and store. I would avoid packs of cigarettes though, buy bags of tobacco (way cheaper) and store it in mason jars. Also get those tubes and the hand crank machines that let you press the tobacco into the tubes. You'll be very well off in the Afterworld OP.
