Is it possible to be too good at your job? The process goes like you do the workload of 4 co-workers easily, then others pile their work onto you to attempt to get away with being lazy, then there's the panic phase of where they realize they start appearing to be comparatively useless to you, then everyone tries to go against you, then boss punishes everyone for "acting nuts" in the workplace and coworkers are stressed/scared of the oncoming future. I just naturally work this efficiently and working any slower I'd feel bored. What do I do

good job wagie remember to smile itll never get old
you're supposed to "make the work last" and do the bare minimum retard. Being bored is part of having a job, working hard is not. Making your coworkers look incompetent and throwing them under the bus while acting like an autist isn't good for anyone involved.
You also won't get promoted because you're so effective in your current position
Tbqh if you work slower you'll have more time for other activities.
Why would I want to be bored when I can feel accomplished at the end of the day instead of being stressed out over things I didn't do
because it makes you look like a jackass to your coworkers and the management and you're making their lives more difficult.
Then why don't they just do their job. Is this projecting or something
no. it's retarded but this is how workplaces function and if you make other people look bad or have to work harder they're going to resent you.
After a year in current position I moved to another one and my, now former, manager tried to guiltrip me, which I simply ignored and acted nice. The seething of losing the most productive worker and having to train replacement is more satisfying to me than the actual 10% raise from other job.
Being hard working is a really small part of what will make you successful and get you ahead. What is going to decide how your life goes is if you can get along with other people. If you are so autistic you need to accomplish something to feel ok then learn how to trade stocks on your phone or just read/listen to audiotapes.
Well just because your workplace is used to being dysfunctive and being hated by other departments doesn't mean it's a good thing.
The worst thing a manager can do is make a single person the single point of failure.
>Being hard working is a really small part of what will make you successful and get you ahead.
I don't even care about "getting ahead". I just want to do a good job. Being irked by other departments for never getting to basic tasks demeaning. The workplace is really not difficult - so many people don't even respond to emails which takes like 2 seconds. Idk how so many people laze at work as much as possible to never develop any skills, be stressed about not doing a good job, then at best living with impostor syndrome.
You do your work and spend your free time
1. Making your current work easier
2. Getting to know your superiors
3. Solve something to lead or “sell back” to the company
Doing more busy work than your coworkers is useless
Listen dumbass. You think you're smart and accomplished but you aren't. You're just full of anxiety and restless, so in order to distract you from yourself and your restless mind you work psychotically. You were literally born to be exploited. If your boss wasn't an idiot he'd be oveloading you with work, paying you with peanuts and taking all the credit. So you better chill the fuck out because you're at the very bottom of the food chain and everybody is going to get the best of you and you'll literally die without seeing any progress in your life. Learn to be humble.
>ape food chain cope the post
I already said I don't care about "moving up" to get paid more in a bureaucratic way. I'll get paid more switching jobs in the future anyway; my work experience will definitely help out with my skill sets. Meanwhile you're be fake laughing to your boss over a petty management position with no self confidence in the work you do because you just "had" to hide at work browsing reddit, tik tok, or whatever.
Why is having work be the equivalent of "not work" so important to you guys. It'll in the end harm your mental health and stress you out.
Based. We have the same mentality OP. Categorical integrity in your work is what allows people like us to build the modern day cathedrals. Your accumulated good karma pays off in life and death. Keep at it and don’t let the brain drained bots get to you. Remember - they derive pleasure and meaning from status, consumption, and image rather than good will, production, and freedom. This makes them fundamentally different from you. Do not hate them for their differences but instead make it your mission to understand this difference deeply and completely. This understanding is the key to your success and happiness. It allows you to identify when you are being taken advantage of and when you are being drained. You have a gift, use it as YOU see fit.
You make me laugh. Enjoy your stagnant future. The mere fact that you made this thread is enough to realize that you feel that you're missing something and you don't know quite what it is. Anons have been hitting you in the face with it and yet your stubborness won't let you see. I'd wish you luck but you don't deserve it. Pride is really the most frightening of sins...
I'm an auto mechanic by trade and we don't get paid hourly but per operation. Changing oil is only worth .5 hours but changing an alternator is worth 6 hours. If you do it quicker than the book time you still get the full book time. Slower than book time, you only get the book time. Anyways the guy i work with does 150 to 160 flagged hours a week. Not literal hours. He works 45 hours a week actual time. I do 100 to 120 hours in a 45 hour week. The shop is happy with me because I told then I can only do 80 a week when I get hired because I'm just now a journeyman. The shop owners push this guy and tell him he doesn't do enough. Why ? Because he got too good at his job. He told me he used to do a lot of blow and he would turn 160 to 190 hours in a 45 to 5 hour week but he had a heart failure and can't do blow or work as fast anymore but if he drops below 150 a week the boss gets on his ass and talks mad shit. We both make six figures. He makes about 20k more a year but hates his life. I'm content except when he starts directing his existential anger at me.
I'm being open-minded. Just seems like a crabs in a bucket mentality. If one person can out-compete and defeat 10+ people it's really pathetic. The flailing about with the 'jealous revenge' and then losing still instead of just doing their job is hilarious. The only one with a stagnant future is people like you. My life today is enjoyable and makes me feel accomplished with doing good work. Meanwhile you stress about the work you don't do to eventually look bad when your boss sees through the lies you tell him/her. xD
clean it up wagie
>out-compete and defeat
You're not defeating anybody. It's work. Nobody likes to do it. That's why they pay for it. If you want to win be an athlete or a gambler.
>accomplished with doing good work
Good and yet neglected by your peers
>you stress about the work
I don't work and I've never had a boss in my life. I live a life of leisure thanks to passive income.
>the lies you tell him/her.
The only lies are the ones you've been telling yourself to cope with the fact that your efforts are pointless.
>You're not defeating anybody. It's work. Nobody likes to do it.
You're mentally defeated with that mind set. Your life is that of a spiteful servant instead of wanting to improve yourself. Other people make work into a "competition" when I just simply do my job. There is no moral oversight in being as lazy as possible or as you projected sinning as 'sloth' and the lashback with 'envy'. This mindset probably will include the other major sins. You are the sinner attacking those who aim higher for themselves. The only "aiming high" you aim for is socializing hoping for bureaucratic upward mobility because obviously you cannot rely on your talent.
Those are some pretty good hours. Dealer or independent shop?
Whatever dude, go back to work and keep that chin up.
You are a loser.
This almost happened to me today. Boss was out and I lead the team and we did some pretty good work. He asks if I can keep doing that while he focuses on other stuff and I almost said yes but realized part of it would be micromanaging my lazy fucking coworker and there isn't a job title or raise involved so I backed out. It might have been a good move if I wanted to move into management but I'm trying to GTFO and do consulting and dealing with extra shit is slowing down getting my business set up.
The resentment of it all made me take it out on the lazy fucking coworker and telling him what a useless entitled cunt he is after pestering me with questions he could have googled. I hope he quits but he's a parasite who can't do a single task without bitching for hours until someone "helps" aka does it for him.
So today I avoided extra work and made my coworker stressed/scared of the oncoming future and my manager realized he pushed his luck so it was a win.
What did I lose?
Your future, if you're lucky, is being a middle aged man in his 50's never having won a competition in his life nor acquiring an achievable goal or skill set to be proud of. You will attach a rationalization to your meager management position as "power" and have cognitive dissonance in this belief which will make you angry and lash out at people. Your laziness will make you morbidly obese which turns you to clinging onto your masculinity by obsessing over cars, motorcycles, big trucks, maybe even Metallica. Your life is predictable and pathetic.
