But let's be real, you wanna be near some form of civilization in order to get decently priced goods

And by near I mean like an hour away driving 80mph so probably 60-80 miles from the city sounds about right. You'll be near some small towns and suburbs, access to the city if you need to, but you are such a large distance away from the inner city trash that it's a perfect middle ground between absolute middle of nowhere and city living.
