Jaime Sevilla at the University of Aberdeen in the UK and colleagues who have measured the way computational power in AI systems has increased since 1959. This team say the performance of AI systems during the last ten years has doubled every six months or so, significantly outperforming Moore’s Law.

re: the user asking whether cement will run out in the deleted thread i've mostly pulled the 40 year figure out of my ass. i'm not sure if there's a trustworthy estimate, that's the one i remember from a talk by a professor working in renewable building materials a few years ago. but the specific sand needed for cement is indeed running out: cnbc.com/2021/03/05/sand-shortage-the-world-is-running-out-of-a-crucial-commodity.html
>I didnt buy the "ukraine war" dip Congratulations, you're going to make it when the tech/housing bubble crash continues.

the big issue is that most cement cannot easily be recycled and that china has been using up as much cement in the last two decades as the us did in the 100 years before that (roughly paraphrased from the talk i visited, you can probably find that point in one of the articles on the matter). as a result, there's lots of research into new renewable materials with better structural properties than wood and research into how to recycle existing building materials more efficiently. since china seems to have shifted their building policy away from "tall + concrete" to "wide + wood" (probably as a result of the coming shortage) as evidenced by the resulting massive wood shortage all over the world, we might have a few more years of cement than anticipated. but in general, it's still running out and cannot sustain e.g. the growth of india into a 1st world nation.

So what you are saying is to buy VALE

I think we will bounce off the 200 and go to at least -20% from ATH. Anyone betting on recovery right now is just gambling, I would only feel confident a return to ATH if the 100 is cleared and the bond market steps away from the ledge, until then don't trust this shit.

How do I invest in sand?

this is a more general issue, by the way. building materials in general are running out, not just cement (it's just one of the most prominent ones that are running out very quickly). the public hasn't realized this yet, i think. there isn't much talk about it. i thought about possible stock plays on this issue, and the obvious one is investing in companies that develop renewable building materials, but i don't think a "safe" market leader has emerged yet. the other obvious play is buying existing real estate. part of me thinks that the current trend of big investing firms buying shitloads of modern real estate is related to this.

We need to buy sand NOW!!!!!!! BEFORE THE MARKET PICKS UP ON THIS!!!!
wood doesn't have the same structural properties as cement, as mentioned in in fact, this whole chain of posts was a reply to an user making fun of americans building houses using wood that can more easily get destroyed by natural disasters and fires

wake up before market open and run a screener for abnormal volume and check the stocks with a significant gap up
